What will I receive as part of
The East Coast Organic Mattress Store® franchise system?

You and two key staff members will have five days of training at our corporate location and you will also receive up to five days of pre-opening support at your own location. You will have access to all The East Coast Organic Mattress Store (ECOMS) trademarks, approved suppliers and product lines, and our exclusive operational tools. We will also provide site selection support, construction and design assistance, ongoing support, and new product development services. And, we will provide you with a copy of our confidential operations manual to help you run your business effectively.

Do I need prior experience in running a retail mattress business?

It is not necessary to have previous experience in the retail mattress industry. Customer service, business management skills, and a commitment to green products and lifestyles are important. Regardless of your experience or background, we will provide the tools and training you need to run your own ECOMS business.

What will The East Coast Organic Mattress Store franchise cost me?

The estimated required investment for a start-up franchise ranges from $171,100 to $270,800, which includes a $35,000 franchise fee that must be paid to the franchisor and or its affiliate as appropriate.

Is financing available?

We do not currently offer direct financing to franchisees.

What is the term of the franchise agreement?

The initial franchise agreement term is seven years, with three subsequent renewal options of five years each.

Are there ongoing fees paid to the franchisor?

Franchisees will be required to pay royalties of 4.5% of gross revenues. These fees allow us to fund our ongoing support services and the continued development of new products, procedures, marketing tools, training programs, and systems upgrades.

Are there any advertising fees?

Franchisees will be required to spend at least 5% of revenues on local marketing efforts. Franchisees are also required to contribute 1% of revenues toward a system marketing fund. Funds are used to develop marketing strategies to promote The East Coast Organic Mattress Store brand and fund the creative costs to develop local franchise marketing materials.

Other Frequenty asked questions?

Is the franchisor a corporation with an experienced management team that is well trained? Yes, and the trainers will include the owners. This way you get the best information and training available.

Will the franchisor assist me in finding a location? Yes, with the assist of a real estate broker in your area, and our Feng Shui expert, plus a few other ideas we have.

Does the franchisor provide average sales? Yes in the FDD, Item 19, we provide revenues for the last 4 yrs. This is available in the FDD which we will give to you after discovery day.

Are there any restrictions on what a franchisee might sell? Yes, you may only sell the products of our approved vendors. If a product comes up that you find might work we will gladly take a look at it.

Does the franchisor have any endorsement agreements with any public figures for advertising purposes? No, but in past 6 plus years we have sold to many well known people, and will use that option at a later date.

What if I cant lift a mattress.? Its ok, most mattresses get shipped directly from the manufacturer and you never lift anything. Requirements for storing mattresses for instant delivery can be taken care of by storing them and shipping them from our shippers warehouses. This way the only lifting you will do it the paperwork. In other words , make the deal, do the paperwork, and take a nap for your hard work. Mattresses being sold off the floor will require lifting and bagging and can be done by your delivery company. We have found that we can move mattresses around with not alot of trouble ourselves.
